Chasing Harry Winston: A Novel
Chick lit fans probably know all the anticipated plots; they may have seen them all and read them all. But, they definitely haven't heard them all until they give a listen to Lily Rabe's delicious reading of Chasing Harry Winston by The Devil Wears Prada author Lauren Weisberger. -
This little piggy went to Prada: Nursery Rhymes for the Blahnik Brigade
This is amusing to a point, and not really geared for baby. It's references are British, not American, so the stores other than Prada, Gucci, etc are in London. Better for Mommy than for Baby. -
The Devil Wears Prada
This book started out as snarky fun. I enjoyed imagining I was reading an insider's scoop. The boss, Miranda Priestly, was over-the-top hell-on-heels. After a while, though, she was one-dimensional, as was the narrator and main character, Andrea Sachs. I think the author did herself a disservice by writing in first-person - it might have given her a little distance to write in third person and at least pretend these characters were made up. As it was, it seemed like reading a journal where someone had done a search-and-replace, changing real names into fictional ones. In the end, I actually felt some sympathy for Miranda when she said she had noted Andrea's frequent eye-rolling and sighs. -
The Prada Paradox
I am a huge fan of this series, and couldn't wait until the final installment was released. All in all, it was a good read, but it leaves much to be desired. First of all, too much time is spent on Devi's backstory; you're a third of the way through the book before the game even gets underway. What I enjoyed so much about The Givinchy Code is that the action started almost immediately - with Mel, a girl we didn't know, caught up in this deadly game of cat and mouse...but as the story unfolded, we learned more about her and started to care about her welfare. -
Bitter is the New Black
en Lancaster is my hero. And not because I share her love of shopping and fashion (I don't ... most days I'm just grateful if the one pair of jeans I have that fit, are clean.) She is my hero because throughout some really gut wrenching trials, she maintained her very keen sense of humor. Is this book for everybody? Maybe not. But if you read that title and think 'this book is for me,' it probably is. -
Projects for Prada part 1
Do you love Prada? Do you hate Prada? Does the sight of those mint green walls and that little metallic triangle bring you a rush of assurance? Or does it intimidate the hell out of you? -
Manhattan on the Rocks
thought this was a really cute, light and fluffy read!!!! Typical chick lit, but a fun read!!!! I liked the main character alot and was interested to see what happened to her over the course of the book!!! Not the best I've read, but by far, not the worst!! -
StartSitter
I absolutely loved this book. I took it away with me on vacation and I couldn't put it down. It was so funny and entertaining that I didn't want it to end. I recommend it to anyone who wants a real page turner!
